Inmates are encouraged to work while incarcerated. Institution job assignments include employment in areas such as food service, maintenance, warehouse, ground keeping, and instructor, to name a few. Inmates may receive pay for approved job assignments. 

A screening process is in place for all jobs across the facility. Any inmate seeking employment through the Jobs Program must first be screened and approved by the Programs Department Director. Offender Services will place each approved inmate in the available staffing options in the MDOC database, OffenderTrak.
